ST 3990 Silicone Joint Sealant

Share:

Silicone Sealant is a new type of joint sealing material, silicone sealant belongs to the room temperature curing sealing material, with good weather resistance, high stability, low modulus, high elasticity and other characteristics. Silicone sealant used in the United States of America's national highways, airport pavement, ports and terminals, high-speed rail, bridges and attempts to seal the joints of waterproofing has been more than thirty years, where used, there has never been a large-scale replacement, and can effectively protect the concrete slab for a long time. According to the report of the American Concrete Pavement Association, about 82% of the construction units in the U.S. use silicone sealant to seal the joints.

Product Characteristics

(1) Easy to use: single-component packaging, easy to use, in the usual construction temperature range, has good extrudability;

(2) No need for primer: neutral curing, chemical compatibility with concrete, strong chemical bonding to concrete, generally do not need to use primer;

(3) Long service life: excellent long-term weather aging resistance, will not be destroyed by sunlight, rain, snow, UV, ozone effects;

(4) excellent resistance to high and low temperatures, after curing the formation of silicone rubber adhesive tape in the low -40 ℃ will not significantly harden or become brittle can still maintain good elasticity, in the + 150 ℃ high temperature does not flow or degradation;

(5) high displacement capacity: freely follow the expansion and contraction of concrete joints, shear deformation, their own not be destroyed;

(6) low modulus: passive deformation produces moderately low stress on the concrete substrate, to ensure that the concrete surface is not destroyed;

(7) High elastic recovery ability: it can reciprocate many times with the movement of joints, fast response and quick reply, small permanent deformation.

NOTE: The actual amount of sealant used will vary depending on the design of the joints, the location of the installation of the liner material, the trimming technique, and the amount of site wear and tear.

The Main Use

1)Used for sealing joints of airport runways and highways, which can withstand large displacements;

2)Used for sealing joints and grouting joints of other concrete pavements;

3)Used for sealing of subway projects, tunnels, bridges and other projects.

ST 3990 Silicone Joint Sealant

ST 3990 is self-leveling type and ST 3991 is non-sagging type, both are one-component neutral curing, specially designed for airport runways, highways, tunnel, bridges and other concrete or  asphalt pavements for long-lasting weather sealing and waterproofing of upward, downward and longitudinal seams, with low modulus, high displacement, and good expansion and contraction  restoration characteristics, with a displacement capacity of up to +100/-50 grades to adapt to the roadway joints. Displacement capacity up to +100/-50 levels, adaptable to pavement joints.

Artificially accelerated climate aging test shows that its excellent weatherability is fully capable of high and low temperatures, strong ultraviolet environment of the concrete road surface of the harsh test.

Conformity Standards

ST3990/ST3991 meets or exceeds the following standards:

Industry Standard ST3990: SR I N 50LM JC/T 976-2005 / ST3991: SR I S 50LM JC/T 976-2005 American Standard ASTM C 920-05 + 100, -50 levels, ASTM D 5893-04

Technical Service

(1) Provide complete technical data of the product.

(2) Adhesion test:

ST3990/ST3991 Silicone Joint Sealant has excellent adhesion to concrete without primer

treatment. However, due to the diversity of concrete configurations and different surface

cleanliness; we can not guarantee that the sealant is suitable for all road concrete, must be carried out before the large-scale use of small-scale bonding test on the site, in order to make a reasonable program to ensure good adhesion.

The Use of Precautions

(1) Not suitable for construction in bad weather;

(2) It should not be used on frosty or wet surfaces;

(3) Not suitable for use on all materials that will exude grease, plasticizers or solvents, such as the surface of oil-impregnated wood;

(4) Not suitable for use in places continuously immersed in water and oil;

(5) Not suitable for use in airtight places, because the sealant needs to absorb the trace moisture in the air curing;

(6) When the surface temperature of the material is lower than 4℃ or more than 40℃, it is not suitable for construction.

(7) The newly poured concrete should be maintained in dry weather for at least 7 days, in case of rainy days, each rainy day must correspond to an additional drying day, i.e., to ensure at least 7 days of drying and maintenance; for quick completion or fast drying type of concrete, please contact our technical service personnel;

(8) When installing the sealant, it should be lower than the road surface to prevent abrasion;

(9) Restrictions on the use of substrates: not suitable for copper, lead, galvanized metal surfaces and polycarbonate materials.

Safety Instructions

(1) The product is completely cured and non-toxic, but should be avoided before the curing and eye contact, if contact with the eyes, please use a lot of water to flush, and find a doctor to deal with; uncured products should be avoided contact with children.
